Arian Foster may miss less than three months with groin injury

The Houston Texans were given the awful news that star running back Arian Foster would have to undergo surgery on a groin injury. Foster has suffered through many injuries in his career, but he was expected to shoulder a huge load for the Texans’ offense in 2015. That won’t happen off the bat obviously, but the good news is that new reports have stated that he could end up missing less than three months.

Needless to say, that timetable would be very friendly for the Texans and would allow him to get back in the middle of the season. Houston has no idea how they are going to replace his expected production, and it puts their offense in a very dangerous place with the quarterback situation being shaky as well.

Foster finished the 2014 season with 1,246 yards and eight touchdowns on 260 carries. He also caught 38 passes for 327 yards and five touchdowns on the season. Houston desperately needs that type of punch in their offense, and the lesser the time that he is missing, the more likely their chances are to make a push at the playoffs against all odds.

At 28 years old, Foster has to be upset about yet another injury holding him back from building his legacy with the Texans. He hasn’t been able to play nearly as much as he would have liked, and even when he has been on the field there have been nagging injuries holding him down and bothering him.

That being said, this news is a positive among all of the negatives surrounding Foster’s injury. Hopefully he is able to attack the rehab process and cut this down even more. It likely won’t go down too much from the three month mark, but aiming to be back on the field and working on-the-field without playing games by month two would be a solid goal.

It will be interesting to see exactly how much time Foster does end up missing following this report.

Expect to see him get back on-the-field earlier than many are expecting him to return. There aren’t many players that are more fierce when it comes to competition than Foster, and he has proven that in the past with other injuries that he has suffered. Foster is going to do everything in his power to get back on the field quicker, and the Texans are going to do crossing their fingers as he does.
