Fantasy Football Week 3 Projection: Green Bay Packers WR James Jones

As Week 3 gets set to get underway in the NFL, there are quite a few fantasy football owners out there trying to figure out who they should play. It will get even intriguing over the next few hours as owners try to finalize their roster for Sunday’s slate of games. One name that will play on Monday Night Football is Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones, who has been a huge pickup for some owners looking for a sleeper.

Throughout the first two weeks of the season, Jones has caught five passes for 80 yards and three touchdowns. It has been obvious that superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers is very comfortable with him, especially in the red zone.

So what should fantasy owners expect to get from Jones on Monday night if they decide to start him?

Kansas City has a fairly solid defense, but most media analysts are expecting Rodgers and the Packers’ offense to put up big numbers against them. Rodgers has played nearly perfect football throughout the first two weeks of the season and it is obvious that he is his normal MVP caliber self. Jones could have a bigger role as well due to the ankle injury that second-year starting receiver Davante Adams is dealing with.

It appears that Adams will indeed play, but Jones could be asked to step up a bit more and could receive more targets due to the injury.

Jones is going to be the No. 2 target more than likely for the Packers on Monday night, or will at least line up as a starter on the outside with Randall Cobb in the slot. Green Bay is going to have to get their aerial attack going early with the injury hat Eddie Lacy is struggling with. There is a good chance that Lacy will miss Monday night’s game, which would send Jones’ value through the roof.

Predicting his game isn’t easy with how much Rodgers spreads the football around. There is no doubt that Jones will see a good number of targets, bu he may not get the important ones that will get him huge fantasy points. That being said, there is an even better chance that he is going to get targets in the red zone and will have a chance or chances to add to his touchdown total on the season.

If you are debating playing Jones, go ahead and make the decision to plug him into your lineup as a WR2 or in your FLEX.
