As Week 5 of the 2015 NFL season is set to get underway, the Green Bay Packers are ready to take on the St. Louis Rams. Green Bay is one of the perfect teams remaining in the league at 4-0 and Aaron Rodgers has been playing nearly perfect football to lead them to that record. He is currently the reigning NFL MVP and firmly believes that he can win the award once again this season.
Throughout the first four weeks of the season, Rodgers has completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 995 yards, 11 touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Needless to say, those numbers show why Rodgers is confident in his ability to contend for a back-to-back MVP award. He has an excellent offense built perfectly around him and is playing in the prime of his career. Rodgers is quite possibly the best quarterback of all-time, although he still has some work to do to earn that title.
Rodgers is looking to play another perfect week, but he has a tough job ahead of him against a very good Rams’ defense. Despite the fact that they have a talented defense, Rodgers is looking to improve his MVP status with another big week against a defense that will give him a run for his money.
Davante Adams doesn’t look like he will be able to play this week, but James Jones has made progress and will be on the field. Green Bay played without Adams last week and looked just fine offensively.
Green Bay is going to run a pass-heavy offense this week, as the Rams are going to stuff the line. Eddie Lacy will still get a good number of carries, but they won’t be able to use him as a workhorse throughout the game. Tom Clements and Mike McCarthy are more than comfortable with putting the football in Rodgers’ hands and letting him go to work.
It will be interesting to see how this game goes, as the Packers can’t afford to underestimate the Rams. St. Louis is going to come out strong and look to make a statement with their ability to put pressure on the quarterback. Rodgers has to be ready to make plays with his legs and make quick decisions as well.
While the Rams are going to be bringing a lot of pressure, Rodgers will find ways to make them pay.
Expect to see Rodgers come through with yet another big performance and to keep his nearly perfect season going. There is a chance that the Rams’ playmakers in the secondary can force his first interception of the season, but at the level that Rodgers has been playing it won’t be easy.
