The New Orleans Saints are set to face off against the Atlanta Falcons at home and they are hoping to shock their division rival and get a big win. Willie Snead is without question one of the more pleasant surprises in the NFL this season, especially from a Fantasy Football standpoint. He has been a major sleeper this year and is finally starting to break out as a big point playmaker.
Last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, Snead ended up catching six passes for 141 yards. He wasn’t able to record a touchdown in the game, but he was one of Drew Brees’ go-to guys and is going to continue seeing his role grow throughout the season as he continues gaining more chemistry with the star quarterback.
Now the question becomes, can he turn in a fantasy football superstar week against the Falcons’ defense?
There is no question that he should have a big game against the Atlanta defense. Dan Quinn has definitely helped them improve from a fundamental standpoint, but they still can’t be a lockdown defense. Snead is going to be able to get loose down the field and make some big plays throughout the game with the way that he fits into the Saints’ offense.
Head coach Sean Payton is going to do everything he can to get the football into Snead’s hands after seeing what his young receiver is capable of last week. Snead gained a lot of confidence from his teammates and coaching staff with the big production that he had, despite the fact that the Saints were unable to come away with the win over the Eagles.
At just 22 years old, there is absolutely nowhere to go for Snead but up over the next few seasons. One of the best things that the Saints’ coaching staff can do is develop young players and that has been obvious already this season with the way that he has been growing on the field.
Not only has he shown talent on the field, he is also creating a reputation for being a solid individual away from the football field as well. He has not seen his name come out in negative fashion in the media and is a very quiet and respectful guy.
New Orleans has to be excited to see what Snead brings to the field this week. These two teams are going to bring everything they can to this game to win bragging rights over the other and Thursday Night Football is the perfect stage for them to go at each other. If the Saints’ offense can step up and play turnover free football, they are going to be able to stick with the Falcons for the majority of the game.
All of that being said, to answer the original question there is no doubt that Snead is a big time fantasy football piece for Week 6. He should have a big game against the Falcons’ secondary and will once again prove what the Saints saw in him when they originally decided to give him a chance.
