Chip Kelly was released as head coach by the Philadelphia Eagles before the 2015 NFL season was over. They were not happy with the way the season went and decided to make a quick decision. Many do not think the move was the right decision for the Eagles, including New England Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick who said that the move was disappointing.
One team that is already showing interest in hiring Kelly is the San Francisco 49ers, who have reportedly interviewed him for their open head coaching job.

Adding a coach like Kelly to the mix would be a very intriguing move for the 49ers. Jim Tomsula was fired this week after just one season as the head coach in San Francisco. He did not show signs of being the answer that the 49ers needed and they didn’t waste time moving on.
Kelly would bring his up-tempo style of offense to the 49ers, which could fit quarterback Colin Kaepernick perfectly. Whether the 49ers would consider another season with Kaepernick as their starter or not is another question.
Kaepernick was benched midway through the season this year and rumors have been flying that the team will try to trade him this coming offseason.
No matter what the 49ers decide to do with their roster, Kelly could help on-the-field in a big way. He would bring in a much more dynamic offense and is known for developing talent as well. Kelly would have a lot of talent in San Francisco, although he would agree to a deal knowing that there is a rebuilding process still in the making.
San Francisco is obviously looking to make a splash with their new head coach. They are likely willing to spend a good amount to make that happen as well, which could intrigue Kelly.
Expect to hear plenty more about the 49ers’ job and Kelly in the coming weeks, although at this point in time they certainly seem like an intriguing match.
