New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a losing record in just six NFL stadiums. In Carolina, Kansas City, New Orleans and Seattle, he’s either 1-2 or 0-1. Hardly a sample size worth drawing conclusions from. In Miami, he’s 6-8. A little surprising, but the Dolphins are a solid division rival.
The sixth city on the list is Denver, where Brady is 2-6 in his career. Excluding the two places where he’s a simple 0-1, Denver’s where he has his worst winning percentage, and it’s not even very close.
For more perspective, consider that the Broncos are the only team outside of the AFC East whom he’s lost to more than twice on the road.
It’s not as though Brady’s been bad in Denver (15 touchdowns and seven interceptions in eight games) but he hasn’t been himself (completion percentage of 59 and passer rating of 89.6). Four of New England’s six losses at Mile High have come by eight points or more, and two have come in the last two years. However, the Pats did lose two of them in overtime.
During the Brady era, New England has averaged 22.6 points per game in Denver. In the past, that hasn’t usually been enough. But the Broncos have been held to 20 points or fewer in five of their last nine games, which might explain why Brady’s Pats are still a three-point road favorite this weekend.
