The Seattle Seahawks are considered one of the top contenders in the NFC once again this season. Pete Carroll and company are without question talented enough to make a run at yet another Super Bowl appearance. They still have one of the top defenses in the NFL and Russell Wilson has enough weapons on offense to make some noise against even the best defenses in the league.
Looking ahead to this evening, the Seahawks will play their second 2016 NFL preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Last week, the Seahawks ended up defeating the Kansas City Chiefs by a final score of 17-16. It wasn’t a pretty game, but they showed signs of why they are considered a top team in the NFC.
All of that being said, what three things should the Seahawks and their fan base be on the lookout for in particular this week against the Vikings?
Can Trevone Boykin Keep Looking Like a Future Star?
In his first NFL action of his career last week, Trevone Boykin completed 16 of his 26 pass attempts for 188 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions. He showed that he has star potential for the future. Seattle needs a solid backup quarterback behind Wilson and it looks like they’ve found their man in Boykin.
How Will the Running Back Position Keep Shaping Up?
Thomas Rawls could end up being the starting running back for Seattle this season, but Christine Michael is pushing him for carries. Michael carried the football seven times for 44 yards last week. He will likely end up being the backup running back, but Michael can put pressure on Rawls with a big game tonight.
Will Tyler Lockett Prove Himself as a Starting Wide Receiver?
One of the major keys for the Seahawks this season will be the play of wide receiver Tyler Lockett. He is going to be asked to fill a starting role, assuming he doesn’t blow that opportunity in the preseason. Lockett will need to have a much better game than the one reception for 11 yards that he had last week.
What do you think the final score will be for the game this evening? Do you consider the Seahawks a serious contender to win Super Bowl 51?
