Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Green Bay Packers: Three things to watch

The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to face off against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 action this afternoon and there are a lot of expectations for both teams. Heading into the 2016 NFL season, the Packers are widely expected to compete for a Super Bowl appearance, while the Jaguars could contend for a playoff spot.

While it may not be the best matchup on paper in the first week of the regular season, fans should expect to see the two teams put on a show for their respective fan bases.

Green Bay is a much better all-around team, but Blake Bortles and the Jaguars have an offense that can hang with the Packers’ offense. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2015 season and will try to make a point in their first game. This game will show a lot about both teams right off the bat.

All of that being said, what three things should fans watch in particular throughout the course of today’s game?

How Does Aaron Rodgers Begin His 2016 Campaign?

Even though Aaron Rodgers didn’t have a terrible 2015 season, he didn’t play up to his own standards. Rodgers will be out to prove that he is still a capable MVP candidate this season. It will be interesting to see how he starts the 2016 season and where he ends up taking the Packers at the end of it.

Is Blake Bortles Ready to Take the Next Step?

Last season, Blake Bortles showed major improvement and the ability to become the face of the Jaguars’ franchise. Bortles will be asked to take an even bigger role for the Jaguars this season. He is expected to put together a huge season in 2016 and it will all start against a very good Green Bay team this week.

Will Eddie Lacy Turn His Career Around?

Green Bay is in desperate need of starting running back Eddie Lacy to get his career back on track this season. He struggled with weight issues last year and was a major disappointment. Mike McCarthy will give him carries early and often this afternoon and it will be intriguing to see how Lacy opens the season.

What are you looking for from the Jaguars and Packers in Week 1 this afternoon? Who do you think will win? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
