Adrian Peterson may be finished with the Minnesota Vikings

Adrian Peterson has widely been viewed as the best running back in the NFL throughout the majority of his career. He has been the face of the Minnesota Vikings’ franchise and has helped get them back to relevance in recent years. Unfortunately, his tenure with the Vikings could be coming to an end.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, Peterson may be done with the Vikings after the knee injury that he suffered last week against the Green Bay Packers.

Peterson has just one guaranteed year left on his contract with Minnesota. He isn’t getting any younger and the Vikings could choose to move on and find a new workhorse running back. There were rumors last offseason that Minnesota could look to trade Peterson, but that didn’t end up happening.

Throughout the very limited playing time that Peterson had in the first two weeks, he only carried the football 31 times for 50 yards and no touchdowns. His numbers were very disappointing before the knee injury occurred. Many were speculating that Peterson’s age was beginning to take a toll on him.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for both Peterson and the Vikings.

Pro Football Talk also mentioned that Minnesota could have a decision to make on Teddy Bridgewater. If Sam Bradford puts together a big season and can lead the Vikings to a playoff run, Minnesota could consider keeping him as the starter over Bridgewater. Bradford certainly had a big game against the Packers in his debut.

Mike Zimmer and the Vikings’ coaching staff have to be happy with the team that they have put together. Minnesota has built their roster the right way and has shown a lot of patience throughout the rebuilding process.

Last season showed that the Vikings are truly back, after knocking off the Packers in Week 17 to win the NFC North. They have made a point already this season with a win over Green Bay.

All of that being said, Peterson could very well be on his way out of town this coming offseason. He has meant a lot to the Vikings’ franchise, but it might be time for both sides to part ways.
