This weekly segment will highlight the best performances of the week in the NFL. Every position and player is eligible, all it requires is a truly epic showing. It’s not always stat driven, or analytics grade driven, though those things help you get on this list.
1. Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots
With the 3-1 record without Brady it’s not entirely clear the Patriots missed him. That is, until he made it clear just how good he can make them upon his return. He showed zero rust in his first game back from suspension. The Patriots lit up the Browns 33-13 and Brady put in a vintage performance with 406 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.
2. Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
He has so many weapons at his disposal it’s almost unfair. He spread the ball around to all of them and went 34 of 47 for 380 yards and 4 touchdowns in a blowout win over the Jets.
3. Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dallas Cowboys
The rookie back is clearly stating his case as the NFL’s best. Against a usually tough Bengals defense he rushed for 134 yards on just 15 carries (8.9 yards per carry) and 2 touchdowns.
4. Vic Beasley, Jr., DE, Atlanta Falcons
Beasley is the fourth Falcons player on this list in three weeks, but for the first time it’s from their defense. He posted 3.5 sacks against the Broncos and is probably still in Paxton Lynch’s nightmares.
5. T. Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts
The Colts are underperforming again this year and if they stand any chance at making a run it’s going to be with games like this from Hilton. He had 10 catches for 171 yards and a touchdown, and the Colts needed all of them in a close win over the Bears.
