Each Friday this NFL season, we’re taking a quick look at the league’s most interesting team in action that weekend. This week, we’re going with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Why the Jaguars? Because there was so much hope for this talented young team prior to the season, but then they started 0-3 before rebounding with a big win over the division rival Indianapolis Colts in London two weeks ago. Now they’ve had their bye and are looking to avoid a 1-4 start.
Why this week? Can’t lose to an incredibly shorthanded Chicago Bears team following a bye week, especially now that you’ve got that first win under your belt. In fact, a lot of folks believe Jags head coach Gus Bradley saved his job with that win over Indy, but a loss to the Bears — even on the road — could cause Bradley’s seat to overheat.
What should we expect? A lot of points between Jacksonville’s high-powered offensive tackle and a Chicago offense that has been pretty damn good under interim starting quarterback Brian Hoyer. The Jags have surrendered 27.8 points per game thus far, so it’s about time that expensive defense steps up. Right?
Put it all together and for at least one weekend, the Jaguars are America’s most interesting football team.
