Each Friday this NFL season, we’re taking a quick look at the league’s most interesting team in action that weekend. This week, we’re going with the Houston Texans.
Why the Texans? Because they’re such a different team than they were when they won the AFC South last season. They’re getting by at 4-2 without J.J. Watt and with a depleted secondary, with that offensive combo of Brock Osweiler and Lamar Miller finally putting things together at the same time. They’re young, they’re talented and they may be turning a corner.
Why this week? Because Osweiler is returning to Denver for a prime-time matchup with the team that decided not to pay him the $18 million he got from the Texans in the offseason. And it’s a downright sexy matchup between two of the league’s most intriguing contenders.
What should we expect? A statement from Osweiler? That’s a strong possibility. He knows that defense well and appears to have found a groove late in a thrilling Week 6 victory over the Colts.
Put it all together and for at least one weekend, the Texans are America’s most interesting football team.
