Week 8 NFL game watchability rankings

Week 8 is here, and you might be entering the weekend with your own preferences regarding which games to focus on, and which to place on the backburner.

Most of you have your favorites and fantasy players to track. But in case you’re completely neutral or need help breaking ties with regard to what to watch, we’ve ranked all 13 games from most appealing to least enticing.

1. Eagles at Cowboys (Sunday night, NBC): Three of the hottest rookies in the league represent the two offenses in a classic NFC East showdown between two teams with a combined record of 9-3. This is a contender for game of the year.

2. Packers at Falcons (Sunday, 4 p.m. ET, FOX): Atlanta has the best offense in the league but is trying to avoid a third straight loss. Green Bay should have the best offense in the league but is still trying to put it together. With both teams likely to contend for division titles, this is a huge mid-season game between four-win teams.

3. Cardinals at Panthers (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX): Neither 2015 Super Bowl contender has been right this season, which makes this pretty important. Carolina absolutely cannot afford to start 1-6, and the Cards are looking to bounce back from a weird tie with Seattle.

4. Patriots at Bills (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS): If the Bills are going to compete for the AFC East crown this year, they’ll have to beat the Pats for a second time this season here. If it’s not a blowout in the second half, this is a must-watch.

5. Chargers at Broncos (Sunday, 4 p.m. ET, CBS): Denver’s back could be against the wall against a suddenly hot San Diego team that is better than its record and beat the Broncos just two weeks ago. As long as it’s not a blowout, this is a hot game.

6. Redskins at Bengals (Sunday, 9:30 a.m. ET, FOX): This has a chance to be the most entertaining of the three London games this season. A pair of 2015 playoff teams with high-powered offenses.

7. Chiefs at Colts (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS): Two intriguing playoff contenders in the AFC. And every Colts game is entertaining regardless of whether or not it’s unintentional comedy.

8. Raiders at Buccaneers (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX): Oakland is trying to move to 6-2 and the Bucs have lost just once this month. The winner here will be a serious playoff contender, and it’s a battle between two good young offenses.

9. Lions at Texans (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX): One of these teams will be 5-3, and both have played some thrillers this season. It might not be a Super Bowl preview, but it means a lot to both sides and it should be entertaining.

10. Seahawks at Saints (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX): Russell Wilson vs. Drew Brees is a hell of a matchup between the two greatest short quarterbacks of all time, or something like that. But there are some great early games Sunday, so this might not be worth it unless it’s close late.

11. Vikings at Bears (Monday night, ESPN): I guess it’ll be interesting to see if the Vikes can bounce back from their first loss of the season. But that’s about all that’s interesting here. Garbage Monday nighter.

12. Jets at Browns (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS): This is a complete pass on a weekend like this, unless you want to watch either team burn.

13. Jaguars at Titans (Thursday night, NFL Network): This wouldn’t be as bad as in years past if it were on a Sunday or a Monday, but I don’t trust these teams to give us anything good on Thursday Night Football.
