Throughout the 2016 NFL regular season, we’re ranking the league’s top 10 quarterbacks. Here’s how we view things after Week 7…
1. Tom Brady, Patriots: He now qualifies as a passer, and he leads the league with a completion percentage of 75.2, a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 8-to-0, a yards-per attempt average of 9.9 and a passer rating of 132.6. Plus, the Pats are 3-0 with him under center. This isn’t even close.
2. Matt Ryan, Falcons: Two crushing fourth-quarter picks in as many weeks hurt his case in a major way, but it hasn’t been a good year for quarterbacks and Ryan ranks second to Brady in terms of yards per attempt and passer rating.
3. Matthew Stafford, Lions: Dude’s numbers are fantastic, but it’s even more phenomenal that he’s already led four fourth-quarter comebacks. The NFL record for a full season is seven. It’s really come together for the 28-year-old.
4. Philip Rivers, Chargers: Despite his team’s struggles, Rivers has been solid all year. He ranks in the top six in terms of touchdowns, yards-per-attempt average, passer rating and QBR.
5. Dak Prescott, Cowboys: The steady rookie still hasn’t committed a turnover for 5-1 Dallas. He ranks second only to Ryan with a QBR of 82.8.
6. Drew Brees, Saints: The NFL’s fourth-highest-rated passer hasn’t been the problem for the struggling Saints. He also ranks third with a completion percentage of 68.5, first with 17 touchdowns and has been the league’s best deep passer.
7. Derek Carr, Raiders: His rate-based numbers aren’t excellent, but Carr has been super clutch and one of the most effective passers in the league while under pressure.
8. Russell Wilson, Seahawks: Wilson isn’t right, but he’s still been the league’s most accurate passer and he’s thrown just one interception in six games.
9. Andy Dalton, Bengals: Cincinnati hasn’t been right, but Dalton ranks third in the league with a yards-per-attempt average of 8.4 and has the league’s highest rating at Pro Football Focus.
10. Sam Bradford, Vikings: He came back to earth in a major way in a Week 7 loss to the Eagles, but Bradford still has a triple-digit passer rating and just one interception in five games.
