Week 9 NFL game watchability rankings

Week 9 is here, and you might be entering the weekend with your own preferences regarding which games to focus on, and which to place on the backburner.

Most of you have your favorites and fantasy players to track. But in case you’re completely neutral or need help breaking ties with regard to what to watch, we’ve ranked all 13 games from most appealing to least enticing.

1. Broncos at Raiders (Sunday night, NBC): The top spot in the mighty AFC West is on the line in a matchup between the NFL’s best defense and one of its most powerful young offenses. This has everything. Great old rivalry, star power and huge midseason implications.

2. Eagles at Giants (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX): NFC East matchups between entertaining teams with winning records are always good. The winner here will probably make a run at Dallas. The loser probably won’t.

3. Colts at Packers (Sunday, 4 p.m. ET, CBS): This at least feels like the type of game that will have plenty of fireworks. Just hope Indy keeps it close.

4. Lions at Vikings (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX): This game could decide which of these two teams will make a run at the NFC North title. Matthew Stafford has been great but the Lions are just 4-4, while the Vikings are trying to avoid a third straight loss. That would be crippling, so there’s some real potential suspense here.

5. Falcons at Buccaneers (Thursday night, NFL Network): Matt Ryan and the Falcons are having a special season, but they’re on the road on short rest and taking on a team that beat them earlier this year. That could make this divisional matchup extremely interesting.

6. Bills at Seahawks (Monday night, ESPN): With Seattle banged up and Buffalo the definition of unpredictable, this could be a sneaky amazing game. Or it could be a typical blowout in the Pacific Northwest. Either way, worth checking out from the get-go.

7. Steelers at Ravens (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS): Baltimore’s pretty desperate and the Steelers have some big question marks. That could make this interesting, and it’s a great rivalry. Still, it’s not quite as enticing this year.

8. Titans at Chargers (Sunday, 4 p.m. ET, CBS): The two quarterbacks are intriguing. I’ll give this game that, even if neither team is going anywhere.

9. Panthers at Rams (Sunday, 4 p.m. ET, FOX): Carolina has come alive, which could set us up for a one-sided affair here.

10. Jaguars at Chiefs (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS): The Jags are a dumpster fire right now, so this’ll likely be a blowout. Only tune in if it isn’t at about 3:35 p.m. ET.

11. Cowboys at Browns (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, FOX): Same rule here.

12. Saints at 49ers (Sunday, 4 p.m. ET, FOX): There are some really bad games this week. At least the Saints have a lot of players with fantasy football relevance.

13. Jets at Dolphins (Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, CBS): So much potential here at the start of the year. Now? Nobody outside of New York or Miami really cares.
