Each Friday this NFL season, we’re taking a quick look at the league’s most interesting team in action that weekend. This week, we’re going with the Seattle Seahawks.
Why the Seahawks? Because while Seattle has dealt with a lot of turmoil this year, the Seahawks have lost just one game since Week 2 and are coming off back-to-back impressive prime-time wins over tough cross-conference foes. In addition to that, quarterback Russell Wilson seems to be hitting his stride. Can Wilson build on back-to-back lights-out games with a strong performance against the very tough Philadelphia Eagles?
Why this week? Wilson had an insane 25-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio during the second half of the 2015 season. Now that he appears to be close to 100 percent healthy, he could position the Seahawks for a Super Bowl run with another big second half. But on Sunday he and the Seahawks will go up against an Eagles defense that ranks third in football in terms of points allowed. Last week, Philly held the extremely-high-powered Falcons to just 15 points.
What should we expect? Either a huge statement from Wilson and Co., or a disappointing performance that indicates he’s still not healthy, or the bad pass protection is just too much to overcome, or the running back hasn’t been saved by rookie C.J. Prosise. Or all of the above.
Put it all together and for at least one weekend, the Seahawks are America’s most interesting football team.
