Each Friday this NFL season, we’re taking a quick look at the league’s most interesting team in action that weekend. This week, we’re going with the Green Bay Packers.
Why the Packers? Because just as we were about to lay them to rest, the Packers are back. And with Aaron Rodgers on top of his game and his supporting cast healthier than it has been all season, they might be better than ever. Green Bay has won four straight games, scoring 68 points in its last two victories, and two wins to close out the year will give the Packers the NFC North crown.
Why this week? Because Green Bay merely needs to beat the Minnesota Vikings in order to ensure that its Week 17 matchup with the Detroit Lions will decide the division. But Minnesota has superstar running back Adrian Peterson back in the lineup, and the Vikes have beaten the Packers in each of their last two meetings.
What should we expect? The Packers squeaked by the division-rival Bears in a wild one last week, and Chicago had little to play for. With Minnesota trying to stay alive in the NFC playoff race, look for Peterson and Co. to put up a hell of a fight at Lambeau. This’ll likely go down to the wire, with Rodgers and Co. again needing to make a big play in order to keep this late-season run alive.
Put it all together and for at least one weekend, the Packers are America’s most interesting football team
