Top 5 NFL players from week 15

This weekly segment will highlight the best performances of the week in the NFL. Every position and player is eligible, all it requires is a truly epic showing. It’s not always stat driven, or analytics grade driven, though those things help you get on this list.

1. Brandin Cooks, WR, New Orleans Saints

The Cardinals took turns throwing Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu, safety help and others at Cooks. It really didn’t matter who they tried. The Cardinals dropped from #1 overall in defense to #4 this week, in large part due to their complete inability to slow down Cooks. He had 7 catches for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns.

2. Ty Montgomery, RB, Green Bay Packers

It’s time to embrace the fact that he’s not a receiver but a running back. He lit up the Bears for 162 yards on 16 carries, to go with 2 touchdowns.

3. LeSean McCoy, RB, Buffalo Bills

It was a forgone conclusion that he would end up on the list this week going up against the Cleveland Browns. He didn’t disappoint. 153 yards and 2 scores on 19 carries. This is the sixth time he’s gone over 100 yards this season, and the second time he’s landed on this top 5.

4. Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints

This is his fourth time on the list. Somehow he didn’t make the Pro Bowl, despite leading the NFL in passing yards and passing TDs, as well as being 4th in rating. After a couple rough weeks he bounced back in a big way lighting up the Cardinals’ elite secondary. He went 37 of 48 for 389 yards with 4 touchdowns and no interceptions.

5. Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Dallas Cowboys

This marks Elliott’s third time on the list. He had 159 yards on 23 carries and 1 touchdown against a Bucs defense that had played exceptionally well lately. The Cowboys needed all of it in a narrow 6 point win.
