Colin Kaepernick is playing some of the worst football of the year at the quarterback position. Jim Harbaugh might not last in San Francisco, and suddenly a 49ers team that has appeared in three straight NFC title games might not even make the playoffs.
And the Seattle Seahawks are loving every minute of it.
Seattle’s bitter rivals are barely keeping their heads above water and will come in to visit the 12th Man with their season very much on the line. Seattle isn’t completely safe here, either, as a loss would split the season series and put them just one game ahead of the Niners. A win, however, would almost surely end San Francisco’s playoff hopes and allow the Seahawks to rip the division crown away from the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16.
With so much to gain and a dominating 19-3 win over this 49ers team just two weeks ago, Seattle walks into Week 15 with supreme confidence. Naturally, a massive rivalry game with so much on the line isn’t cheap, as Seahawks vs. 49ers tickets currently have an average price of $398 on the secondary market and the cheapest tickets available at TiqIQ.com are $172.
The cheapest ticket available to the game is more expensive than most rates for hotels near CenturyLink Field. According to Hipmunk, the cheapest rate available for a hotel near the home of the 12th man is $109 and, in fact, only one hotel has a starting rate higher than $172. And Seattle flights from San Francisco are available for as little as $228 so Niners fans would have to pay a lower price on average for a flight than a ticket.
It’s absolutely worth it for Seahawks fans, however, as they’ve lost just one game at home this season and have largely had San Francisco’s number since Pete Carroll took over as head coach. That should be the case yet again this week, as the 49ers seemingly lack a true offensive identity and Jim Harbaugh can feel one foot already being out the door.
San Francisco doesn’t have a threatening offense by any stretch of the imagination, which makes picking them almost impossible against a Seattle defense that is #1 against the pass and third in the league against the run.
With the Niners’ offense likely held mostly in check, this game will simply come down to Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch avoiding mistakes and taking what San Francisco gives them. Considering that’s been their mantra all year, the defending Super Bowl champs shouldn’t have much trouble completing the season sweep and inching closer to the NFC West title.
