Report: Randall Cobb agrees to return to Green Bay

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb will be returning to the Frozen Tundra…

The reports were trickling in that Cobb wanted to stay in Green Bay and was willing to even give the team a bit of a “home town” discount. Cobb’s 2014 salary was just north of $800,000 so a raise to $10 million per year (based on Schefter’s numbers) has to feel good for Cobb. The rumors were that Cobb wanted anywhere from $9 million to $12 million per year.

In 2014, his contract year, Cobb had his best year as a Packer. He caught 91 passes (on 126 targets) for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. The receptions, touchdowns and yardage were all career bests. The 91 pass receptions ranked 9th in the NFL for the 2014 season.

With Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas receiving the franchise tag, Cobb was going to be the top free agent wide receiver on the market. Now, that distinction will go to Jeremy Maclin and potentially Andre Johnson.
