Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will sign with the Miami Dolphins.

Suh also will get $60 million in first 3 years of 6-year contract, based on parameters set between #Dolphins and Suh's agent, Jimmy Sexton.

After five years with the Lions, Suh will be moving on. It’s very difficult to measure the impact of a defensive tackle based on statistics but over Suh’s five year run with the Lions he had 181 tackles and 36 sacks. Beyond his stats, Suh has dominant play-making ability. There is no doubt that Suh is a difference maker but will he be enough to turn around a franchise that is stuck in mediocrity.
Suh is also one of the leaders in the NFL for on-field fines. While Suh is a dominant force inside the tackles, he can also be a negative force when his temper gets the bets of him.
Now that Suh is in his second contract it will be interesting to see how he performs. The last time the Dolphins finished the season with a winning record was 2008. Since then they’ve gone 7-9, 7-9, 6-10, 7-9, 8-8 and 8-8. The Dolphins finished 21st in the NFL in yards allowed and 13th in points allowed. Whether Suh can lead their defense to the top of the hill remains to be seen but sometimes you have to take a risk to see a big reward. The world will be watching to see if the Dolphins made the right call with this signing.
