Saints trade Kenny Stills to Miami for Dannell Ellerbe

Trades, trades and more trades…

Wow. So what exactly are the Saints doing? Earlier they seemed to be shredding salary by getting rid of Jimmy Graham and Ben Grubbs but now they are acquiring a pretty large contract. It’s being reported that Ellerbe will be restructuring his salary, which is $8.4 million in 2015 so the Saints will likely add this to their continued effort to push their Salary Cap issues into the future.

Last season Ellerbe went down in the first quarter of the Dolphins first game and missed the entire season. This year, the Dolphins don’t want to take that chance again. If healthy, Ellerbe can without a doubt be an asset for the Saints.

In his second year, Kenny Stills put up some good numbers as a part of the New Orleans Saints offense catching 63 passes for 3 touchdowns. Stills was second on the Saints in receptions in 2014, trailing only Jimmy Graham who has also been traded.

This big trade wasn’t the only move the Saints made today as they also signed CJ Spiller, who was our #1 target left in free agency at the start of the day.

It’s going to take some time to really look at what’s going on with the New Orleans Saints but they are clearly a team that is turning their roster at a significant rate this off-season for better or worse.
