It won’t be long now until we can put this NFL dry spell behind us as we enjoy the NFL Draft. Just a couple of weeks ago we had our second mock draft of the off-season, view picks 1-16 here and 17-32 here, but even though no football has been played- things are a changing. This draft includes a mock trade that shakes up the draft a little bit since the last one….
Here’s our mock draft with picks 1-16…
1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jameis Winston , QB, Florida State
Tampa Bay is going Winston here and that’s just how it’s going to be.
2. Tennessee Titans – Leonard Williams, DE, USC
The Titans field trade offers but ultimately they stand pat and draft big Leonard Williams to help them plug up the middle…
*TRADE ALERT*
The Jacksonville Jaguars trade the #3 pick in the draft to the San Diego Chargers for the Chargers #17 overall pick and other picks
3. San Diego Chargers (via mock trade with Jacksonville Jaguars) – Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon
With Philip Rivers future with the Chargers in question, San Diego acts quickly and decisively and gets their future QB here instead of waiting until next year to try and figure it out.
4. Oakland Raiders – Kevin White, WR, West Virginia
Just like the last draft, I have the Raiders picking White over Amari Cooper here.
5. Washington Redskins –Dante Fowler Jr., OLB, Florida
Great luck here by the Redskins as they get to their pick of rusher as both Fowler and Beasley are still here as well as Randy Gregory. Gregory’s off-the-field issues push him down and Washington goes with Fowler Jr.
6. New York Jets – Vic Beasley, OLB, Clemson
The Jets were hoping that Mariota would fall to them but they take Beasley as their consolation prize.
7. Chicago Bears – Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama
Cooper is too tough to pass up here.
8. Atlanta Falcons – Shane Ray, OLB, Missouri
The Falcons biggest need is a pass rush and while Randy Gregory and Bud Dupree are very tempting here, the Falcons go with Ray.
9. New York Giants – Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
Look for the Giants to go with a lineman here. Last time I had them taking Shelton and he’s still available but I see them leaning Scherff here.
10. St. Louis Rams – DeVante Parker, WR, Louisville
The Rams would have liked Scherff here but with him off the board they grab the best WR available.
11. Minnesota Vikings – Trae Waynes, CB, Michigan State
Minnesota sticks with the same pick as we had for them in our last mock. They need help at CB and they get their pick of the draft with Waynes.
12. Cleveland Browns – Danny Shelton, NT, Washington
Danny Shelton dropped a few spots from our last mock and the Browns need help on the line so they snatch him up.
13. New Orleans Saints – Bud Dupree, OLB, Kentucky
The Saints are looking to take a defensive player here and Dupree has huge upside.
14. Miami Dolphins – Breshad Perriman, WR, UCF
The Dolphins could go a few ways here but with three wide receivers already off the board they don’t want to miss out and grab Perriman who has made quite the move up since our last draft.
15. San Francisco 49ers – Randy Gregory, OLB, Nebraska
ILB is a need here for the 49ers but they can wait for that, they grab Gregory as he’s slid due to character concerns but if he stays clean he’s a steal.
16. Houston Texans – Marcus Peters, CB, Washington
Peters has slid down some draft boards because of character issues but the Texans take a shot with him here.
