At the half; Patriots battle back for the lead

At the end of the first half of Super Bowl XLVI, the New England Patriots lead the New York Giants 10-9, despite trailing 9-0 early on. Tom Brady has been nothing short of magnificent, and they’ve made this yet another great game to this point.

As we get ready for the second half, keep an eye on the Giants early in the third quarter. They were able to jump all over the Patriots early on, but how will they handle some adversity? Their response in the third quarter could determine the outcome in the fourth quarter.

While the Giants do trail, they have to feel great about their offensive game plan. To this point, they have ran the ball very effectively, gaining 65 yards between Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. The simple solution to a one point halftime deficit is to stay patient, something Tom Coughlin doesn’t tend to struggle with.

The Patriots season, like it has all year, will come down to Tom Brady. With apologies to the Patriots’ defense (which has been solid to say the least thus far), it’s all about Brady and the offense. They’ll need more than another field goal to win the game. That’s a given.

My advise for the rest of the game is to go to the bathroom, refill your beverage of choice, head to the kitchen for some snacks, and sit your butts down. There’s still a half of football to play in the 2011-2012 NFL season, and with any luck, we’ll end the season with some fireworks.
