Nick Fairley arrested for marijuana possession

Fairley_ArrestedYet again, a Detroit Lions player is in trouble with the law, and once again the charges will be related to marijuana. Nick Fairley was arrested today and is being charged with second degree possession of Marijuana. Fairley was stopped due to a suspended license. Fairley was arrested after police found marijuana in his possession.

This is the third marijuana related incident by a Lions player this offseason. Johnny Culbreath and Mikel Leshoure are the other two Lions players to have marijuana related run-ins with the police this offseason.

Fairley was the 13th overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, but he saw only limited time on the field, playing in only 10 games in his rookie campaign. He only accumulated one sack in 2011.

Still, the Lions expect big things from their dominant defensive front, and Fairley is an integral part of that front’s future.

Although three marijuana related problems this early in the offseason is somewhat concerning, it doesn’t necessarily point to an overwhelming problem for the Lions. Yes, it’s an issue that should be addressed and cleaned up as soon as possible, but the problem isn’t unique to the Lions organization; it just appears that they’ve had exceptionally poor luck and judgement so far this offseason.
