Romeo Crennel The New Head Coach In Kansas City

According to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network, the Chiefs have removed the “interim” tag from head coach Romeo Crennel’s job title. According to La Canfora, the Chiefs signed Crennel to a three year contract late last night.

Crennel took over this season after then head coach, Todd Haley, was fired. Crennel has experience as an NFL head coach, leading the Cleveland Browns from 2005 through 2008. In his time with the Browns, Crennel compiled a 24-40 record.

The Chiefs were 2-1 under Crennel, including a win over the then undefeated Green Bay Packers.

With the Chiefs head coaching search now officially over, the search for an offensive coordinator can begin in earnest. Attracting a top tier coach to go to Kansas City shouldn’t be too problematic. The Chiefs have a young quarterback, an elite wide receiver, and a running back that can gash the opposing team at any point.

The attractiveness of Crennel’s new job is only made better by the Chiefs draft position. They’ll pick either 11th or 12th depending on a coin flip at the NFL combine as they’re tied with the Seattle Seahawks for that position.
