Aaron Rodgers’ name was listed on the Green Bay Packers’ injury report, after constantly claiming he was healthy, ESPN reported.
The NFL’s reigning MVP participated in practice in a limited role, battling an ailing throwing shoulder. The Packers dropped their last three games against the Broncos, Panthers and Lions, and during that three-game stretch, Rodgers only completed 56.5 percent of his passes. He tossed six touchdown passes and one interception.
In an interview Wednesday, Rodgers was asked why he concealed the injury and he said, “It’s not an excuse. It’s a source of pride. I think that’s the difference.”
Following three straight loses, maybe Rodgers will take it upon himself to be honest to the team and rest if he’s injured. His pride is getting in the way of his team’s success, and can possibly result in further injury to his throwing shoulder.
Rodgers didn’t get into specifics when asked about his injury. He wouldn’t reveal when it was sustained, and didn’t elaborate on the extent of it.
The Packers are on the road again, hoping to snap their three-game losing skid against the 7-2 Minnesota Vikings.
