ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is expected to be suspended for the first two games of the season.
Bell was arrested in August for marijuana possession and DUI and this past Friday he finally settled those issues. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as a result of these charges, Bell has entered an Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program:
The 15-month probationary program will require Bell to abstain from drugs and alcohol, complete any recommended treatment, pay a $100 fee and court costs and complete a safe-driving class.
In addition, his driver’s license will be suspended for 60 days.
Once he completes the program, the charges will be dropped.
Bell led the Steelers in rushing in 2014 and finished third in the NFL totaling 1,361 yards while averaging 4.7 yards per carry. In addition to those impressive rushing stats he caught 83 passes for 854 yards.
A formal announcement on Bell’s status has yet to be made by the NFL.
