TGS weekly MVP tracker: Cam Newton hanging on

With one week remaining in the 2015 NFL regular season, here’s how we view the MVP race…

1. Cam Newton, Panthers: It feels a little weird giving the MVP to a guy who ranks 31st in the NFL in terms of completion percentage, especially now that the Panthers have lost. But Newton’s play transcends the quarterback position, and he’s now the league’s eighth highest-rated passer. It’s not a landslide, but he should hang on to win.

2. Carson Palmer, Cardinals: Palmer leads the NFL with a ridiculous 8.9 yards per attempt, ranks second with a passer rating of 106.8 and has 34 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions for the streaking Cards.

3. Russell Wilson, Seahawks: The league’s highest-rated passer also ranks second among all NFL quarterbacks with 541 rushing yards, but his team won’t win its division.

4. Tom Brady, Patriots: It’s been a great season for Brady, especially considering all of the injuries in New England. His 36-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio is untouchable, and the Pats have lost just three games. But he just doesn’t have the numbers.
