The top 10 players in the AFC East

This series will feature the top 10 players in each division regardless of team or position. This is measured by a combination of their current impact on the field, their potential in the future and their accomplishments in the past.

1. Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots

Despite his age he’s back to winning titles and being named Super Bowl MVP. He proved once again that you should never bet against him.

2. Mario Williams, DE, Buffalo Bills

He has earned every bit of that enormous contract so far. In fact, despite the fact that he just turned 30 he’s coming off a career high 14.5 sack season.

3. Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots

The resurgence of Brady doesn’t happen without a healthy Gronk. And neither does the Patriots winning a Super Bowl.

4. Darrelle Revis, CB, New York Jets

He showed last season he’s still an elite cover man after a couple rough seasons. Now he’s back where it all started.

5. Ndamukong Suh, DT, Miami Dolphins

Suh wanted to be paid like an elite NFL player and he got his wish. He’s a newcomer in the AFC South but he should make his impact felt immediately.

6. Cameron Wake, DE, Miami Dolphins

Every team is desperate for a devastating pass rusher and he is one of the very best.

7. Nick Mangold, C, New York Jets

It doesn’t get any better on the interior line than the 6 time Pro Bowler.

8. Marcell Dareus, DT, Buffalo Bills

He’s a young player that’s quickly taking the NFL by storm. Anytime you’re an interior player over 330lbs that posts double digit sacks, you know you’re a special.

9. Sheldon Richardson, DE, New York Jets

He’s so good the Jets are actually considering parting ways with Muhammad Wilkerson. In just two seasons Richardson is already right up at the top of the players at his position.

10. Kyle Williams, DT, Buffalo Bills

Interesting to note that six of the ten players on this list play on the defensive line, clearly a real strength in the AFC East. At 32 Williams still maintains a Pro Bowl quality level of play and he had his best season in 2013 also posting double digit sacks as an interior player.
