Will 2015 be Robert Griffin III’s last season with the Redskins?

The Washington Redskins are heading into what could be a franchise changing 2015 NFL season. Many would look at the franchise changing quote as a good thing, but they could be forced to completely reload on talent following the season depending on what ends up happening. One piece that they could be forced to move on from is quarterback Robert Griffin III, who was originally viewed as their franchise savior.

His inconsistency and injury plagued career has many wondering whether or not the 2015 season could be his last with the Redskins.

There is no question that the Redskins are getting tired of Griffin’s injuries. It all started during his rookie season with a torn ACL, but they haven’t stopped since then. He has had a plethora of different injury issues, which have completely derailed anything and everything that he showed when leading the Redskins to the playoffs in his rookie season.

Unfortunately, if Griffin doesn’t show the potential to be a legitimate starting quarterback throughout the entire season there is a good chance that Washington will part ways with him. There are reasons to believe that he will figure out how to get himself back to playing consistently solid football, but there are also reasons to believe that he will be on his way out of Washington following this season.

At 25 years old, there is plenty of time for Griffin to get his career back on track. Washington’s front office is making it very clear that they still believe in his talent by keeping him on board for the 2015 season.

Washington is all in with their money on Griffin heading into the upcoming season, and if he comes up short they will have to cut ties with him. It would be a shame to see them trade him or release him into free agency after the magical season that he led them on as a rookie. That version of Griffin was destined to become a star, and he has to figure out a way to get that kind of swagger back.

Ever since the lack of confidence became obvious in his game and health, Griffin hasn’t been the same type of impact player that he was in his first season. The only way to get back to that style of play is to figure out his confidence issue and fix it.

Griffin certainly could fall apart even more this season and force the Redskins to get rid of him, but he has come through with big years in clutch situations before. He hasn’t faced the pressure that he is facing this season throughout his career to this point, but he is a performer when it comes right down to it. Having all this pressure come down on his shoulders could bring out the competitive nature that made him so intriguing at Baylor and in the NFL Draft process.

All of that being said, it will be very interesting to see how his season goes. There is no doubt that this could be his final season with the Redskins, and that it is a make-or-break for Griffin.
