Aaron Rodgers: ‘I Know I Have to Play Better, And I Will’

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers have been one of the hottest topics around football, but not for good reasons. After losing to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football last week, fans and the media began freaking out about the issues that the offense has continued having this season.

Last season was a brutal year for the Green Bay offense and it was expected to improve in a big way this year. That hasn’t been the case throughout the first three games, which has caused panic.

Despite the disappointing start to the season, Rodgers isn’t too worried about himself or the offense.

“I didn’t play as well as I wanted to last week. I turned the ball over twice, and I can’t do that if we’re going to win the game. I know I’ve got to play better, and I will.”

It has been pretty obvious that the offense isn’t on the same page this season. Jordy Nelson is back on the field and has made a few plays, but he still needs to get back from a chemistry standpoint with Rodgers. Eddie Lacy hasn’t started as strong as the Packers were hoping either, but he has shown signs of being the 1,000-yard running back that he was his first two NFL seasons.

Through the first two weeks of the 2016 season, Rodgers has completed just 57.1 percent of his passes for 412 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. He has also lost two fumbles. Those numbers are certainly cause for concern, but hearing Rodgers come out and calmly acknowledge that he has to play better and confidently promise that he will has to make some Packers’ fans feel a little better.

Green Bay has the potential to be a dynamic offense once again this season. Once they figure out the chemistry issues, they should be on track for yet another deep postseason run.

Expect to see Rodgers make good on his promise and start playing much better moving forward. He hasn’t been playing up to his standards, but he is still the best quarterback in the NFL and will begin to show it over the next few weeks.
