Fantasy Football: Start or Sit Davante Adams in Week 3?

The 2016 NFL season is entering Week 3, which means that fantasy football owners have to make decisions on who to play in their lineup. There are quite a few players that will be difficult to decide whether to start or sit them this week.

One of those players is Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Davante Adams, who has been inconsistent throughout his short career with the Packers.

Looking ahead at the Packers’ matchup against the Detroit Lions, there are quite a few reasons to play Adams this week. Some owners may feel a bit hesitant with the struggles that the Green Bay offense had last week against the Minnesota Vikings. The difference is quite simply that the Detroit secondary is nothing close to as good as the Vikings’ secondary.

Aaron Rodgers is going to break through with a big performance this week. He knows that he has to play better and lead the Packers to a much-needed win in their home opener.

At 1-1 on the young season, Green Bay cannot afford to move to 0-2 on the season against the NFC North. Detroit is 1-1 as well and has shown improvement on both sides of the football. Despite the signs of improvement that the Lions have shown, the Packers’ offense will still have its way with their defense.

Throughout the first two games of the season for the Packers, Adams has caught six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. He certainly is a No. 1 wide receiver option and is a fairly dangerous No. 2 wide receiver option. If you have three wide receivers in your league, he would be a must play.

Adams would be a very solid FLEX play for you as well, although there are quite a few players that would be better in that role sitting on the bench for most teams.

What can owners expect to see from Adams this week from a statistical standpoint? It wouldn’t be surprising to see Adams end up catching four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown is a very good possibility whenever a receiver plays with Rodgers.

All of that being said, don’t be scared to play Adams this week. He likely won’t score 20 points for your fantasy team, but there is a good chance he’ll chip in 10-15 points, especially in a PPR league.
