Fantasy Football Week 2 Prediction: Eddie Lacy, Green Bay Packers

Eddie Lacy is entering a Week 2 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings that has fantasy football owners wondering whether to insert him into their lineups or not. The Green Bay Packers’ starting running back has been extremely inconsistent over the past couple of years and has become a risky play at times.

Looking ahead to Week 2 action against the Vikings, what should fantasy owners expect from Lacy?

First of all, the Packers are not going to shy away from pounding the football on the ground. Lacy is going to get a good number of carries each and every week in Mike McCarthy’s offense.

It seems like every time the Packers face the Vikings, Lacy has a big game. At the very least, he has a big game one of the two meetings that the two teams play each season. That gives you a 50 percent chance to get a big performance from Lacy this week, although there are plenty of reasons to be confident that it will be a good week.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ aerial attack looked much better last week against the Jaguars. They might not have put up huge scoring numbers, but they were all on the same page. Jordy Nelson looked like his old self, while both Randall Cobb and Davante Adams looked comfortable once again in their roles.

Last week, Lacy carried the football 14 times for 61 yards against Jacksonville. His 4.4 yards per carry should certainly encourage fantasy owners to play Lacy this week.

Predicting his numbers for the upcoming week is not an easy task. That being said, it would be reasonable to assume that Lacy will carry the football at least 20 times for 85 yards and a touchdown. He could exceed those numbers or come up short, but that is a reasonable expectation for him this week.

Obviously, he isn’t going to be a great No. 1 running back, but he will be an above-average No. 2. Make sure he’s in your lineup if you have him.
