Indianapolis Colts: Three keys to victory in Week 2 vs. Broncos

Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts are heading into their game on Sunday against the Denver Broncos as major underdogs. After the Broncos knocked off the Carolina Panthers in the 2016 season opener, many immediately wrote off the Colts this week. That being said, the Colts believe that they can head into Broncos’ territory and pull off a shocking upset.

It will be interesting to see how the Colts come out to open their Week 2 game. They started Week 1 slowly against the Detroit Lions and were not able to come back from the deficit that they faced.

That being said, the Broncos are a completely different beast. Gary Kubiak will have his team ready to come out and attack the Colts immediately. They will do everything in their power to get the Colts down early and move to 2-0 on the young season.

What five keys are there to single out for the Colts to have a chance at knocking off the Broncos on Sunday?

Andrew Luck Must Be Aggressive While Taking Care of the Football

One of the biggest keys for the Colts will be Andrew Luck playing aggressive without turning the football over. He has always had issues with interceptions, which is exactly what the Broncos are capable of forcing. Luck has to put up big numbers, but the Colts cannot afford to lose possessions and give Denver good field position.

Indianapolis Must Put Pressure on Trevor Siemian

If the Colts are able to put pressure on Trevor Siemian, there is a decent chance that they can force turnovers themselves. Robert Mathis, Trent Cole, and the rest of the Colts’ pass rushers must step up this week. Indianapolis cannot afford to let Siemian sit back in the pocket and let his two star receivers shred the Colts’ secondary.

The Offensive Line Must Do Their Job

Ryan Grigson didn’t shore up the offensive line as much as Chuck Pagano would have liked, but he did draft a couple talented players in the 2016 NFL Draft. That didn’t seem to help the offensive line much last week against the Lions. If the Colts want any chance of beating the Broncos, the offensive line must protect Luck and open up some holes for Frank Gore.

What do you think will happen this week on Sunday afternoon? Can the Colts pull off a huge upset over the Broncos? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below!
