Le’Veon Bell on Pittsburgh Steelers: ‘I want to be a Steeler for my whole life’

Le’Veon Bell is one of the top running backs in the NFL and the Pittsburgh Steelers are lucky to have him. Unfortunately, the injury bug has bitten him the last couple of seasons. If the Steelers are going to be a serious contender in the AFC this season, they will need Bell to step up in a big way.

There is no question that the Steelers have a special place in Bell’s heart as well. He made that clear in a recent interview and mentioned that he wanted to be with the Steelers throughout his entire career.

“I’m not a real greedy guy. I don’t play football just for money or things like that. I just want to be valued. Wherever it is — whether its $15 million or lower or higher, whatever it is – I think we will get to an agreement eventually. Obviously, I want to be a Steeler for my whole life. My family grew up Pittsburgh Steelers fans, and it’s crazy I even got drafted there. So I want to be with them and hopefully we’ll reach an agreement. But that will take place once that time come.”

Bell is going to get a very nice contract when the two sides agree on terms. He is one of the best running backs in the NFL and is likely the best combo running back. Not many players are able to rack up the yardage that he does on the ground, while also being one of the league’s most dangerous receivers out of the backfield.

Last season with the Steelers, Bell saw his season cut short to just six regular season games. He carried the football 113 times for 556 yards and three touchdowns in those six games. Bell also caught 24 passes for 136 yards on the season.

Looking ahead to next season, the Steelers are hoping that Bell can shed the injury bug. If he is able to do that, he will get back to being a dominant threat and will increase his chances of getting a huge contract from the Steelers.

Expect to continue hearing about the two sides discussing a deal, but one likely won’t get done before the season. Pittsburgh has to feel a little leery of giving him a big deal at this point, due to the injuries that he has suffered.

All of that being said, it sounds like Bell wants to be with the Steelers and the two sides should be able to work something out.
