New York Jets: Three keys to victory in Week 2 vs. Buffalo Bills

The New York Jets are heading into Week 2 looking to pick up their first win of the 2016 NFL season. They were unable to defeat the Cincinnati Bengals at home in Week 1, falling by a final score of 23-22.

Looking ahead to Thursday Night Football, the Jets are set to take on their AFC East division rival Buffalo Bills. It will also be yet another game against former head coach Rex Ryan. Traveling to Buffalo is never an easy task, especially to take on a very talented Bills’ roster that is deep on both sides of the ball.

Needless to say, this game will mean a little bit extra for both teams. Both started out 0-1 this season and are desperately needing a win on the board. They are also fighting for positioning in the AFC East, with the New England Patriots still the team to beat despite Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.

All of that being said, what three keys to victory can be seen for the New York Jets heading into Week 2 NFL action?

Offensive Line Must Protect Ryan Fitzpatrick

Rex and Rob Ryan have always been known as aggressive coaches when it comes to the defensive side of the football. They are going to be sending a lot of pressure towards Ryan Fitzpatrick, hoping to force turnovers. New York’s offensive line has to protect Fitzpatrick and give him time to break down the secondary and make some big plays throughout the course of the game.

Return the Favor and Put Pressure on Tyrod Taylor

It isn’t easy to put pressure on Tyrod Tayor, due to the fact that he is capable of breaking big plays with his legs. He is quick, but the Jets will have to figure out ways to pressure him while containing the edges. New York has the defensive capability to be a top pass rushing team in the league and they need to show it this week.

Command the Time of Possession Battle

Time of possession is another key for the Jets this week, as the Bills have an offense capable of making big plays at any given moment. The more that New York can keep the Bills’ offense off the field, the better chances they have at coming away with a huge win. New York will still have to score with the football, but taking their time to do it is a must.
