Throughout the 2016 NFL regular season, we’re ranking the league’s top 10 quarterbacks. Here’s how we view things after Week 9…
1. Tom Brady, Patriots: The league’s oldest position player leads all quarterbacks in every single key category.
2. Matt Ryan, Falcons: If not for Brady’s incredible stretch, Ryan would be running away with the offensive player of the year award. Among quarterbacks with at least five starts, his passer rating of 119.0 ranks first by a 12.4-point margin.
3. Matthew Stafford, Lions: Dude has led five fourth-quarter comebacks in nine games. Without Calvin Johnson, he ranks fifth in the league with a passer rating of 101.6.
4. Derek Carr, Raiders: Mr. Clutch has been carrying first-place Oakland. He ranks near the top of the league in most categories, but he has to improve on that 7.1 yards-per-attempt average.
5. Dak Prescott, Cowboys: He’s starting to hit receivers deep and becoming a complete quarterback, which is scary. The rookie ranks fourth in the league with a 104.2 passer rating.
6. Drew Brees, Saints: The old man is the league’s third-highest-rated passer.
7. Russell Wilson, Seahawks: He had a monster game Monday night against Buffalo, carrying the Seahawks to a huge victory despite a multitude of injuries. He’s great deep, he’s ridiculously accurate and he’s superb under pressure. Watch for a huge second half.
8. Andy Dalton, Bengals: He’s completed 67.0 percent of his passes and ranks third in the league with an 8.2 yards-per-attempt average.
9. Philip Rivers, Chargers: It’s been an up-and-down year, but Rivers has elite numbers. The key? He ranks fifth in the league with a yards-per-attempt average of 7.9.
10. Aaron Rodgers, Packers: Edges out Marcus Mariota, but neither has been consistent. What’s going on with Rodgers? He has the fourth-lowest yards-per-attempt average in the NFL.
