Throughout the 2016 NFL regular season, we’re ranking the league’s top 10 quarterbacks. Here’s how we view things after Week 15…
1. Matt Ryan, Falcons: The league’s highest-rated passer is on pace to post the highest yards-per-attempt average this century (9.3).
2. Tom Brady, Patriots: He’s 9-1 as a starter and has a 22-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio. The league’s second-highest-rated passer is definitely in the mix.
3. Aaron Rodgers, Packers: The support hasn’t been there and he hasn’t been consistent, and yet Rodgers still has 32 touchdowns to just seven interceptions for the streaking Packers.
4. Dak Prescott, Cowboys: A 32-for-36 effort in prime time against the red-hot Bucs moves the rookie back into the top four. He hasn’t been excellent in December and he’s had a lot of help overall, but the dude still has a 20-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio for first-place Dallas.
5. Derek Carr, Raiders: Make that seven fourth-quarter comebacks for the third-year Fresno State product. Carr’s rate-based stats aren’t superb, but he’s been great in clutch spots despite being limited by a finger injury.
6. Matthew Stafford, Lions: Disappointing performance against the Giants, but he still owns the single-season record for fourth-quarter comebacks with eight in 2016.
7. Drew Brees, Saints: It’s been an up-and-down year for the old man, but he certainly bounced back from a couple bad weeks with a four-touchdown, zero-turnover performance in a victory over Arizona. Brees is the NFL’s fourth-highest-rated passer.
8. Kirk Cousins, Redskins: There’s a real drop-off after Brees. Cousins just hasn’t been consistent enough, which is a shame considering his tools and the weapons he has at his disposal. Still, he remains the league’s second-highest-rated passer, ranking second to only Brees in terms of passing yards.
9. Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers: Big Ben has also experienced a roller-coaster 2016 campaign, but his 73.5 QBR ranks fifth in the league as he steers the ship for AFC North-leading Pittsburgh.
10. Marcus Mariota, Titans: A pair of mediocre statistical weeks don’t disguise the fact Mariota is the league’s 10th-highest-rated passer for a team that is making a playoff run despite a clear lack of talent.
