TGS weekly MVP tracker: Von Miller and a bunch of surprise quarterbacks

With 14 whole weeks remaining in the 2016 NFL regular season, here’s how we view the MVP race…

1. Von Miller, Broncos: With five sacks and 15 pressures in three Denver victories, Miller has been the best player in the game. He makes like a hell of a lot easier for an inexperienced quarterback.

2. Carson Wentz, Eagles: I’m serious. The league’s seventh highest-rated passer has yet to turn the ball over for the 3-0 Eagles, who pummeled a very good Steelers team in Week 3.

3. Matt Ryan, Falcons: Ryan has thrown seven touchdown passes to just one interception while registering the highest passer rating in the league for the 2-1 Falcons, who have won back-to-back games on the road in impressive fashion. He’s carrying a bad defense.

4. Sam Bradford, Vikings: He’s had a lot of help from that kick-ass defense, but two starts (and two victories) into his Vikings career, Bradford has a 107.8 passer rating and no turnovers.

5. Aaron Rodgers, Packers: A huge bounce-back performance against the division rival Lions really boosted Rodgers, who despite a lot of criticism has seven touchdowns to only one interception for the 2-1 Packers.

6. Jimmy Garoppolo, Patriots: Obviously he’ll soon disappear from this list, but the kid is tied for the league lead with a 119.0 passer rating for the 3-0 Patriots.

7. Derek Carr, Raiders: The third-year quarterback has quietly been fantastic for the 2-1 Raiders, with a completion percentage of 66.9, five touchdowns to one pick and a 99.1 passer rating.

8. Alex Smith, Chiefs: Smith probably doesn’t have an MVP run in him, but he’s been very solid running a productive Chiefs offense through a 2-1 start.
