Todd Gurley is excited to play with rookie QB Jared Goff

It has been quite some time since excitement surrounded the Rams’ franchise. Now that they are in Los Angeles with a rookie quarterback drafted No. 1 overall, the excitement is at an all-time high.

Todd Gurley broke onto the scene last year as one of the NFL’s best running backs. He was the workhorse for the entire offense and showed promise of huge seasons to come. Los Angeles knew that they wouldn’t be able to contend in the NFC without a quarterback, so Jared Goff was their selection with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Goff has superstar potential and is a great leader and teammate. His presence has excited Gurley and that became obvious when the second-year running back talked about Goff and how excited he is to play with him in 2016.

“Great kid. Couldn’t ask for a better QB. We are just excited to have him (here),” Gurley said, via NFL.com. “He’s definitely learning. He’s getting better. Just excited to play the upcoming season with him.”

There is no question that the Rams should be excited about the duo that they have in the backfield. It is difficult to find both a star quarterback and a star running back and they seem to have found both of them.

Looking ahead at the upcoming NFL season, it is hard to see where the Rams could squeak into the playoffs. They have a very bright future ahead of them, but this season might not be the year. Having to go up against both the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals in their division won’t make things easy.

All of that being said, Gurley and Goff have absolutely nothing to lose this season. They will come out strong each and every game and leave everything they have on-the-field.

Expect to see this duo become something special in the next few years and don’t be surprised if the Rams are back in NFC playoff contention in two or three years.
