This weekly series presents the 10 best players in each division. Today is the final installment as we look at the NFC West.
1. Aaron Donald, DT, Los Angeles Rams
Terrorizing the league with every snap. Quickly becoming the best defender in the league. He’s virtually unblocked and like J. J. Watt he’s a complete player that excels in any scenario.
2. Richard Sherman, CB, Seattle Seahawks
He’s maybe not talked about as much recently but make no mistake he’s still the best cover man in the league.
3. Patrick Peterson, CB, Arizona Cardinals
There’s not many divisions in football where Peterson would be the second best corner. In fact, this might be the only one.
4. Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks
Last year Wilson shed his label of being a running quarterback by becoming very prolific passing. Despite the loss of Jimmy Graham to injury he didn’t miss a beat.
5. Carson Palmer, QB, Arizona Cardinals
Coming off, by far, the best season of his career at 36.
6. Joe Staley, T, San Francisco 49ers
He’s been to five straight Pro Bowls and remains one of the best left tackles in the game.
7. Earl Thomas, S, Seattle Seahawks
Premiere playmaker and ballhawk with 21 interceptions in 5 years, including 5 last season.
8. Tyrann Mathieu, CB, Arizona Cardinals
Coming back from another major injury will be tough, but he was getting NFL Defensive Player of the Year consideration before his ACL tear thanks to a monster 2015 season.
9. Todd Gurley, RB, Los Angeles Rams
We’ll see if he can duplicate his incredible rookie season but there’s not denying he’s the best young back in football currently.
10. Kam Chancellor, S, Seattle Seahawks
It was clear how much the Seahawks missed him during his holdout. Best hitting safety in football.
