Top 5 NFL players from the Conference Championship Round

This weekly segment highlights the best performances of the week in the NFL. Every position and player is eligible, all it requires is a truly epic showing. It’s not always stat driven, or analytics grade driven, though those things help you get on this list.

1. Matt Ryan, QB, Atlanta Falcons

Is there any doubt the MVP belongs to him at this point? What’s most impressive is how much he moves the ball around and gets everyone involved. Ryan went 27 of 38 for 392 yards, and 4 touchdowns. If the Falcons had not built a huge lead early, who knows how much more he could have padded his stats.

2. Julio Jones, WR, Atlanta Falcons

9 catches, 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. Despite a toe issue he turned in one of his best games on the season on the biggest stage. The Packers had no answer for him.

3. Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots

He wasn’t as prolific as Ryan, but it’s almost more impressive when you consider the fact that he was facing a better defense in much worse weather conditions. Brady was 32 of 42 for 384 yards and 3 touchdowns.

4. Chris Hogan, WR, New England Patriots

The exact same stat line as Jones (9, 180 and 2) but he is a bit lower on this list due to drops. Still, he picked a good time to have the game of his life.

5. Julian Edelman, WR, New England Patriots

He had 8 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. He came quite close to putting up the same numbers as Hogan. The Steelers had no answer for this tandem.
