Will Dak Prescott Lead the Dallas Cowboys Over the Chicago Bears?

Dak Prescott is one of the most popular names in the NFL early this season and rightfully so. The Dallas Cowboys saw Tony Romo go down with an injury during the preseason, but their rookie quarterback has stepped up in a big way to fill the void that was left by Romo’s injury.

After falling to the New York Giants in Week 1 by a final score of 20-19, the Cowboys were able to bounce back last week with a 27-23 victory over the Washington Redskins. It was a huge win for the Cowboys, but more important it was a huge win for the young quarterback. Prescott is coming out of that game with confidence and the belief of his teammates and the Cowboys’ fan base.

Will Prescott end up leading the Cowboys to a victory over the Chicago Bears this afternoon in Week 3 action?

Chicago has opened the season 0-2 and there haven’t been many consolation prizes for the Bears to take out of their two losses. John Fox is doing everything in his power to turn the Bears’ franchise around, but it hasn’t been an easy task. Jay Cutler is hurt this week, which means that Brian Hoyer will be the starting quarterback in Chicago.

Throughout the first two weeks of the NFL season, Prescott has completed 62.7 percent of his pass attempts for 519 yards. He has yet to throw his first career touchdown pass, but he hasn’t thrown an interception either. Prescott has also picked up 18 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Outside of Prescott, the Cowboys have been relying on rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, star wide receiver Dez Bryant, old reliable tight end Jason Witten, and a combination of Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley.

Elliott has racked up 134 yards and two touchdowns on 41 carries so far in his rookie season. He has had some fumble issues early on, but it is easy to see why the Cowboys are excited about their future with Prescott and Elliott in the backfield together.

At just 23-years-old, no one would have guessed that Prescott would be the Cowboys’ starting quarterback this season. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, with many other quarterbacks going before him. Surprisingly, Prescott is starting and performing at a high level before No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff has even taken an NFL snap.

Looking ahead at this afternoon’s matchup, Prescott will have a very favorable matchup against a weak Bears’ secondary. Chicago will be dealing with several key injuries, which will help the Cowboys’ offense as well.

There is no question that the Cowboys should be favored heading into this week’s matchup against the Bears. Even if some don’t believe in Prescott at this point, he will prove himself once again this week.

It will certainly be interesting to see whether Jason Garrett and the Cowboys’ coaching staff continues to put more trust in Prescott this week. They haven’t been letting him throw major deep balls the last two weeks, which could change. Having a wide receiver like Bryant should help ease the Cowboys’ minds about giving Prescott more power within the offense.

Expect to see Prescott come out with a strong game against the Bears this afternoon. Dallas needs their rookie quarterback to step up, which is exactly what he will do.

Prescott will lead the Cowboys to a victory and a 2-1 record and once again prove that he is the heir apparent to Romo.
