The New York Jets were without question one of the most intriguing teams to keep an eye on heading into the 2017 NFL Draft. They have quite a few needs to address, including the quarterback position. All of that being said, the Jets have settled on LSU safety Jamal Adams with the No. 6 overall pick in the draft.
Adams racked up 76 total tackles to go along with a sack, an interception, four defended passes, and a forced fumble. Needless to say, Adams can do a little bit of everything and will help improve a Jets’ defense that was in obvious need of help last season.

If the Jets want to get back into the NFL Playoffs, it is going to take a much-improved defense. New York will still have to find some help at the quarterback position, but their secondary was torn apart last season. Adams not only brings playmaking, he also brings sure tackling, which was a major issue last year as well.
One AFC scout ahead of the draft made it clear that he thinks Adams is going to be a great NFL player.
“The people who have been at that program the longest think he might be the best leader LSU has had in years. He’s a no-doubt first-rounder. He can play all over the field and he could have an immediate impact on defense just like Landon Collins did coming out. I love him. I think he’s a winner.”
Expect to see Adams help turn the New York defense around immediately. He is going to be a big piece for a long time in New York and Jets’ fans should be very happy with this pick.
