Tennessee Titans Draft WR Corey Davis With No. 5 Pick

Corey Davis was expected to be a first-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, but very few thought he would be drafted at No. 5. Whether people were concerned about his ankle issues or dropped pass problems, there were not many that thought the Tennessee Titans would draft him quite as high as they have.

Last season at Western Michigan, Davis ended up catching 97 passes for 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns. Those numbers are impressive to say the very least. Davis also makes history as the only MAC wide receiver to be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft alongside Randy Moss.

Marcus Mariota showed flashes of being a star last season for the Titans. He was one of the top young quarterbacks in the league, but needed more targets. Davis will add the needed deep threat that Mariota was in need of last season and will immediately become his top target.

One AFC North scout was quoted talking about Davis and his speed and left glowing remarks for the new Titans’ rookie.

“Man, he breaks them off with those routes. It wasn’t even fair the way he did those corners in that conference. A man among boys.”

Expect to see Corey Davis step in immediately and become a legitimate No. 1 receiver for Mariota. It may be viewed as a bit of a risk for the Titans, but they made the right pick.

Do you think the Tennessee Titans should have drafted Corey Davis with the No. 5 overall pick? If not, who do you think they should have selected?
