The Browns are the toast of Cleveland right now currently sitting at 6-3 and in sole possession of first place in the AFC North. After last Thursday’s dismantling of the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland is a half game up on Cincy and a full game ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. They have a 4-1 record at home (with the only blemish coming against the Ravens) and are riding a three game winning streak. With a strong defense and an offense built on a stable of three competent running backs, fans are quietly anticipating the first playoff appearance since 2002.
But none of that seems to matter much when it comes to the secondary ticket market. According to ticket data from TiqIQ.com, the average price for this Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans is just $93 with tickets available starting at $35. That pales in comparison to the final two home games on the schedule: December 7th against the Indianapolis Colts (average price of $127) and December 14th against the Cincinnati Bengals (average price of $140.)
According to SuiteHop, there are tickets located in Browns suites available for just $275. That is the cheapest ticket you will be able to find this week for NFL suites tickets and much less expensive than $6,000 which is the typical starting rate to purchase one of the multiple Texans suites options had this game been schedule for Houston.
The Browns will be on the road for four of their final six games following this week’s Texans matchup, so it’s hardly a given that they will be standing tall atop the AFC North come playoff time. But their schedule certainly lends itself to the potential for ten or more wins. If they can win this week (a game they are presently favored by 3.5 points) they’ll have the Falcons and the Bills in the next two weeks. Atlanta has just three wins on the year and Buffalo has been a wildly inconsistent team.
Following those two games, they’ll be at home for Indianapolis and Cincinnati. Those are two games that Cleveland will be either underdogs are favored by a very small margin, but they are both winnable games. So it’s certainly conceivable to see the Browns go 3-2 or better during this next stretch of play, which would put them at 9-5 entering the final two road games of the year against the Panthers and Ravens.
The Week 17 date looms ahead as a potential AFC North division deciding match. Though there is a lot of football left to play, Cleveland fans would love the opportunity to be in position to eliminate the Ravens and win the division all in one fell swoop during Week 17.
